Announcing issue alerting

bitdrift Capture just got even more powerful: as of today, we've added alerting and notifications for issues and crash reports. This feature is critical for mobile engineering teams looking to stay on top of new or trending issues that directly impact users. This is a critical feature that mobile engineering teams need to make sure they stay on top of any new or trending issues that may be impacting their users. Rather than releasing a stripped-down alerting feature, we built issue alerting and notifications that meet or exceed the capabilities of other tools in the industry.

Announcing issue alerting
When we launched crash reporting, we knew that robust alerting and notification support was an absolute requirement for mobile engineering teams and the feature would not see adoption without it. We also knew that we didn’t want to ship a limited version that would not meet or exceed what engineering teams are used to in existing solutions. So, we buckled down and went for the whole enchilada. The issue alerting and notification support we are shipping today includes:
  • Notifications for both new and ongoing issues, with configurable re-notification intervals.
  • Frequent error alerts (when crashes exceed a defined threshold within a set time window).
  • Trending error alerts (when crashes increase compared to their same value in a previous period).
  • View-based alerts which support complex filtering criteria including app version, platform, device type, locale, etc.
  • Alert percentages which can be calculated based on all app opens, unique devices, and unique sessions.
Capture’s unique architecture makes it possible to provide vastly more information with every alert. Each crash report includes verbose sessions logs, session replays, resource utilization data, and trace spans, making crashes that were once difficult or impossible to understand with limited breadcrumbs vastly easier to diagnose and fix. The addition of alerting and notifications rounds out the feature into one that is ready for large-scale production use. Capture is changing the mobile observability game by adding a control plane and local storage on every mobile device, providing extremely detailed telemetry when you need it, and none when you don’t. If the lack of issue alerting was keeping you away, now is the time to give us a try! Interested in learning more?
